Welcome April!

Blessings of April to our beautiful community! Spring is definitely here in Delaware, although our nights are still a bit chilly. The cherry blossoms and other flowering trees are like magickal color bursts and enchant me completely. I plan to dance in a shower of blossoms! I have been carefully watching the lilac plant and she is budding. I cannot wait to gather and preserve some for my altar work.


April is very much an Oshun month for me. Her HolyDay is April 12 and is the day for Caridad del Cobre who syncretizes to the Orisha Goddess Oshun. She is my Guardian Orisha and I will be preparing offerings to take to the river on her day to invite her blessings of health, wealth, and passion. My health is stable at the moment and I am so, so grateful for the good wishes and support of this community as I have been navigating my health crisis. Spring feels hopeful to me and alive - that’s important! I am working through the release of the trauma of my crisis and embracing deep healing and renewal. Goddess has walked every step of this journey with me and I feel blessed.

For the writers and poets among us, April is National Poetry month and I recommend spending sunny days on a blanket and reading Enheduanna (see book list below), Sappho, and so many modern women poets. It is also Camp NANOWRIMO and a great time to work on that novel, short story, or book idea. If you are a journaler or looking to establish journaling as a spiritual practice, join me and Priestess Marisa McCall for our new Journaling the Goddess workshop on 4/13 - our themes are Poetry and Creative Journaling. The Altar is lit and incense is smoking, carrying our prayers and wishes to Goddess. I have been on a Frakincense kick. Goddess Prompts & Enchantments for April 2024

Some of these prompts may call for divination and definitely intuition. Work through them at your own pace. There is no rush and there are no wrong answers. Feel into each prompt and allow your inner wisdom to guide you.


Holydays of April & Astro-Planning - use the Goddess Calendar to identify HolyDays for specific Goddesses in the month of April and see if any of those Goddesses or dates are relevant for your April devotions.


Monthly Intentions - Make it a poem, make it a prayer, a list, or a magickal invocation. This is your creation, your magick, what are you choosing to manifest into the world?


What blessings are you inviting for April? Are there Goddesses on the April Goddess Calendar that you would like to honor? Have you released your winter burdens? What are you replacing into those areas to bring renewal?

THE APRIL ALTAR - The picture above is my April Altar spread in my Goddess Grimoire. You can do it anywhere and use all the goodies (washi tape, stickers, collage) or just use words. Now, take a breath and in your mind’s eye picture a beautiful altar in front of you. Speak the invitation out loud to welcome Goddesses, Guardians, Guides, and Ancestors for this coming month that will support your journey. What do you see?

~ Is there a word, inspiration, quote,or prayer that you would like to inspire your intentions for April?

~ Who is  your  Guiding Goddess for April? Are there any other Goddesses who are present around you right now? I use my Goddess Wheel of the Year Goddesses from my birthday reading, but you can draw an Oracle card, meditate and see what Goddess steps forward, use the Goddess Calendar and HolyDays or book a reading with me to connect to your own Guiding Goddesses!

~ Who are the Guardians present on your altar or near your altar? What guardians do you want to invite? What animal spirit? What crystal ally? What plant magick?

~ Your April Bliss List - create a list or find pictures of what is flipping your bliss switch right now and add that joy to your altar.


APRIL BOOKS


DAILY DEVOTIONS/PRACTICES - How are you connecting to Goddess? How are you using spiritual practices to stay balanced and centered? What practices will manifest your intentions for the month?

DIVINATION FOR APRIL - I divine daily as part of my divination practice. I also do special spreads for each week and each month. Frame a question and add the timing. What do I need to know this month? this week? Today? And then pick an oracle, tarot, or Goddess card. How do your intuition and divination align?


REFLECTIONS FOR APRIL

How is your season unfolding? Are you making space for what is to come? Do you know what is ready to be released?

I am releasing: Offer up your obstacles to Goddess. Consciously and mindfully identify what needs to go and remember to replace it with new, sparkling energy.

I am inviting: Ask for help. What are the blessings to replace what you have released. Fill the spaces of the energy released with magick and good juju. Call in the energies, Goddesses, and support that you need to bolster you and assist you in overcoming your challenges. Write it down in prayer form and use as part of your daily practice. 

Take a DEEP BREATH. Another DEEP BREATH and without overthinking, answer: What do you need right now? How can these needs be woven into your actions and intentions for the month?
